B'desh receives loan from World Bank to improve resilience to climate change

Dhaka, December 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Government of Bangladesh and the World Bank have announced a total of $900 million to help Bangladesh achieve environmental sustainability and climate resilience, including urban infrastructure and inclusive growth. Signed two financing agreements.

The $500 million “Second Bangladesh Green and Climate Resilient Development Credit” will support policies that support Bangladesh’s transition to green and climate resilient development, according to a media release received here on Sunday.

The loan will also reduce air pollution, improve environmental enforcement, expand access to carbon markets, strengthen sustainable water and sanitation services, improve the efficiency of the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100, and create a climate-resilient and sustainable environment. We also support policies such as the promotion of

400 million Resilient Cities and Regional Development Project will build climate-resilient and gender-responsive cities in seven urban clusters along an economic corridor covering more than 950 km of highway from Cox’s Bazar in the south to Panchagarh. Support the development of infrastructure and urban management capacity. It is located in the northern part of Bangladesh.

According to a media release, the project will benefit approximately 17 million people living in these selected urban areas.

Earlier on Friday, the World Bank approved three projects totaling $1.16 billion to help Bangladesh improve its health, water and sanitation services and achieve greener and climate-resilient development.

“These new loans will help provide essential services such as health, water and sanitation to the people of Bangladesh, while providing clean, climate-resilient and sustainable services,” Abdullahi Sek, World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, said in a statement. It will lay the foundation for development.” It was received here on Friday as Bangladesh is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change and faces the biggest pollution problem.
