Turkish defense company Baykar has reported USD 1.8 billion exports in 2024, maintaining its position among Türkiye’s top 10 exporters in all sectors. This achievement highlights the company’s important role in the global unmanned combat aircraft (UCAV) market.
In 2024, Baykar’s exports accounted for 90% of total revenue, reflecting the company’s international presence. Since launching its UAV R&D program in 2003, Baykar has consistently expanded its global reach.
The company’s flagship UCAV, Bayraktar TB2, has contributed significantly to the success of this export. As of December 2024, the Bayraktar TB2 had over 1 million flight times, marking the first history of Turkish aviation. This milestone highlights the reliability and operational effectiveness of the platform.
Baykar’s commitment to innovation is evident in ongoing projects such as the Bayraktar Kızılelma Unmanned Fighter Jet. The company is allocating $1 billion to the project and is aiming to start cereal production next year. This initiative means a strategic move to strengthen Türkiye’s indigenous defence capabilities.
In addition to its export outcomes, Baykar expanded its global footprint through strategic acquisitions. In December 2024, the company was approved by the Italian Ministry of Business and was approved to acquire Piaggio Aerospace, the historic Italian airline in Italy. The acquisition is intended to enhance Baykar’s production capacity and influence within the European aviation market.
Overall, Baykar’s consistent export performance and strategic initiatives reflect its growing excellence in the global defense industry. The company focuses on innovation and international collaboration, and continues to strengthen its position as a leading provider of advanced unmanned aerial systems.
