Assam Prime Minister Himantabiswasarma spoke with Singapore’s semiconductor industry leaders on Tuesday.
The meeting was part of his two-day visit to promote the “Advantage Assam 2.0 – Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025” scheduled for February 25-26 in Guwahati.
In a social media post on X, he said, “I started my day in Singapore by having productive discussions with leaders in the semiconductor industry. Jagiroad’s upcoming #electroniccity.”
During the visit, Salma highlighted Assam’s potential as a hub for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing. He invited key players in the sector to help develop Assam’s upcoming electronic city in Jagiroad.
As part of his engagement, the Prime Minister also met Singapore’s President Talman Shanmugaratnam. Their discussion focuses on continuing joint projects in Assam and Singapore, as well as ways to strengthen relationships between emerging sectors such as semiconductors, green energy and advanced technologies.
Salma recalled Singapore’s past involvement in Assam and mentioned the president’s visit to the state in 2022.
Salma also reviewed the progress of Serana Jurong’s project in Assam. Known for its urban planning expertise, the company is involved in the development of Assam’s cities and industrial parks.
The discussion with Low Cher EK and his team revolved around leveraging Singapore’s experience in town planning and infrastructure development to improve the growth of Assam’s urban landscape and industry.
He said, “Today, in Singapore, we reviewed Sulbana Jurong’s existing projects in Assam with Law Sher Ek and his team. We leverage our expertise in planning the Singapore town. , is trying to build the future cities and industrial parks of Assam and strengthen the #EASIESOFLIVING of people.” .
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to leaders of leading global semiconductor companies such as ASMPT, AEM, BESI, BESI, Temasek, Silicon Box, Nitto Denko Corp, Heller Industries and Meinhardt Group for participating in the discussion. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in promoting investment and infrastructure development in Assam.
Salma’s visit to Singapore is in line with his broader vision of making Assam an attractive destination in global investors, especially in advanced industries. The upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit will serve as a platform to showcase the state’s investment potential and cultivate international partnerships.
