Apptronik and Google DeepMind partner to advance humanoid robotics

austin‘s aputronic and Bay Area-based Google DeepMind have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance the development of AI-powered humanoid robots. The partnership will combine Apptronik’s robotics platform with Google DeepMind’s AI technology to create robots that can operate efficiently in dynamic environments.

Apptronik is a robotics company founded in 2016 with its roots in the Human-Centered Robotics Lab at the University of Texas at Austin. The company has built and tested 15 different robots, including NASA’s Valkyrie robot. In 2023, the company unveiled Apollo, a humanoid robot designed to work with humans in industries such as manufacturing and logistics.

Apollo stands 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, and is designed to perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining safety in industrial settings. Potential applications for this robot could also extend to medical and home environments.

The partnership leverages Apptronik’s human-centered design and hardware capabilities and Google DeepMind’s machine learning, engineering, and physics simulation expertise to create intelligent, versatile, and secure products that can transform industries and improve lives.
