2/ Agents understand context

“Claude needs to learn a lot about your specific situation and the constraints you operate under in order to be useful. What specific role do you have, what kind of writing style do you have?” , and what you and your organization need.

Jared Kaplan

human vision

“I think you’ll see improvements where Claude can search your documents, Slack, etc. and actually learn what’s useful to you. There’s less of an emphasis on that in agents. The system is just useful. It should be safe and behave as expected.

“Another thing is that many tasks don’t require Claude to do a lot of reasoning. He doesn’t have to sit and think for hours before opening something like a Google Doc. So a lot of the things we see I think it’s not just about more reasoning, it’s about applying reasoning when it’s really useful and important, and not wasting time when it’s not necessary.”

3/ Agents make coding assistants better

“We wanted to give developers a very early beta to use their computers to get feedback while the systems were relatively primitive. But as these systems improve, As time goes by, it may become more widely used and actually collaborate in a variety of activities.

“I think DoorDash, browser companies, and Canva are all experimenting with different types of browser interactions and designing them with the help of AI.

“We hope to see further improvements to the Coding Assistant as well, which is very interesting for developers. There is a lot of interest in using Claude 3.5 for coding, rather than just autocomplete like it was a few years ago.” It’s really important to understand what’s wrong with your code, debug it, run the code and see what happens, and fix it.

4/ We need to ensure the safety of our agents

“We founded Anthropic because we expected AI to advance rapidly and that safety concerns would inevitably become relevant, and we believe that these agents will increasingly be part of our work. I think it’s just going to become more and more intuitive this year because I think it’s going to be integrated. We need to be prepared for challenges like rapid injections.

(Prompt injection is an attack in which a malicious prompt is passed to a large language model in a way that was not foreseen or intended by the developer. One way to do this is to ) to add a prompt to your website.
