All Nippon Airways (ANA) is the largest airline operating in Japan and a leader in Asia’s vast but highly competitive aviation industry. With a fleet of 224 aircraft serving 92 destinations around the world, ANA is particularly well-known for the exceptional hospitality and service that is synonymous with Japanese culture.

ANA offers highly convenient flights throughout the Asia-Pacific region from its two bases in Tokyo, Haneda and Narita, making the Japanese capital a popular transit hub for passengers flying to and from the United States. I am. To support its vast network, Star Alliance airlines currently employ approximately 2,500 pilots.

ANA Pilot Salary in 2025

All Nippon Airways is one of Asia’s leading airlines, and until a few years ago, it was recruiting pilots from overseas to meet the growing demand for aviation around the world. However, their pay levels are well below their competitors in Asia, with companies such as Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines offering better pay.

Nevertheless, ANA remains a prestigious landing site among Japanese pilots.

Salary of ANA’s top executives

An ANA co-pilot is responsible for helping the pilot fly the plane from one location to another. Like most airlines around the world, it is tasked with handling communications with air traffic controllers and conducting safety inspections of aircraft. Sometimes he also commands the plane behind the captain’s back.

At All Nippon Airways, annual salaries for junior co-pilots start at 8 million yen (about 55,000 USD) and can reach 14 million yen (about 95,000 USD) for co-pilots with several years of experience. . ANA co-pilots are guaranteed a minimum of 70 flight hours per month, with overtime and additional hours compensated on a pro-rata basis.

ANA captain salary

ANA’s captains are responsible for leading not only the flight attendants but also the cockpit crew and directing flight operations. They make important decisions during flight, especially regarding navigation and in potential emergencies. That being said, they frequently fly planes while also coaching co-pilots to become captains.

The annual salary for an All Nippon Airways captain starts at 14 million yen (approximately 95,000 USD), and seniors can expect an annual salary of 30 million yen (approximately 190,000 USD). Similar to co-pilots, ANA guarantees captains a minimum of 70 hours of flight each month, with pro-rated payments for any additional hours.

The wide dispersion in ANA’s pay numbers is driven by seniority and the type of aircraft it operates, which ultimately has a huge impact on determining aviator pay.

ANA pilot benefits

In addition to monetary compensation, All Nippon Airways provides pilots with the following allowances:

Travel Benefits – ANA pilots and their families are entitled to numerous travel benefits, including free travel and discounted premium tickets across the Star Alliance network. Beyond flights, benefits also apply to the airline’s accommodation/hotel partners. Health and Insurance – Pilots are provided with a comprehensive, globally valid insurance plan that covers all medical expenses. They are also entitled to life insurance. Meanwhile, the pilot’s dependents are also provided with basic medical insurance. Paid Vacation – ANA pilots receive paid annual vacation and sick leave. Paid vacation days are often around 25 days per year, while sick leave accumulates at 0.5 days per month, which adds up to 6 days per calendar year. Pilots also have the option to cash out their leaves if they wish to forfeit their remaining days. Training Program – All Nippon Airways has a strong training program to support the professional growth of our pilots. This includes introducing and enhancing pilots’ existing skills or offering them opportunities to earn courses and certifications that will help them in the long run. Bonus System – ANA pilots are paid large bonuses at the end of each fiscal year based on their own performance and the airline’s performance. This includes several months’ worth of salary, but those who have been with an airline for a very long time, spanning decades, may be eligible to receive an ESOP. Allowances – ANA pays pilots allowances during layovers and deadheads in addition to their salaries. Apart from this, all flight equipment such as baggage, headsets and uniforms are sponsored by the airline. For a captain who spends several days sleeping in far-flung destinations, this amount can easily reach US$10,000 per year.
