Emergency landing due to unruly pax
Last December, an Aeroflot flight from Dubai to Moscow had to make an emergency landing after passenger Roman Pakhomov tried to break the plane’s window during the explosion.
The 38-year-old passenger, under the influence of alcohol brought on board, caused a disturbance by verbally abusing the crew and passengers.
The incident on board the Boeing 777 escalated after Pakhomov displayed violent behavior, requiring the intervention of fellow passengers. The crew, with permission from the captain, implemented restraint measures using seat belts and plastic handcuffs.
Pakhomov managed to break free and try to damage the plane’s windows, forcing the captain to divert him to Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, Azerbaijan. The aircraft remained on the ground for two hours and 45 minutes while the passengers were detained.
In subsequent questioning, Pakhomov claimed to have alcohol-induced amnesia regarding the incident. Azerbaijani authorities launched an investigation into the incident, but the flight resumed its flight to Moscow after being delayed.
