(Web Desk) – The 17th Aalmi Urdu Conference, a feature of Pakistan’s cultural calendar, opened with much fanfare at the Pakistan Arts Council in Karachi.
The event, which celebrates the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of Urdu and other regional languages, attracted literary luminaries, diplomats, artists and enthusiasts from around the world.
Addressing the audience, Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of the event in celebrating Pakistan’s diverse cultural fabric.
He praised the remarkable strides of Pakistan Arts Council, Karachi, which has been a beacon of creativity and dialogue for the past seven decades.
The CM acknowledged the visionary leadership of Arts Council Chairman Mohammad Ahmed Shah and praised the transformative initiatives that have positioned Karachi as a global cultural hub.
“From hosting a 38-day world culture festival featuring artists from 44 countries to expanding the Aalmi Urdu conference beyond its traditional boundaries, these initiatives are helping Karachi emerge as a global city of arts and intelligence. “It symbolizes what we do,” he said.
Regional literature was also celebrated at the event, with Lifetime Achievement Awards awarded to Sindhi, Saraiki, Punjabi, Pashto and Balochi writers.
This stance underlined the council’s commitment to promoting linguistic diversity and fostering cohesion between communities.
Concluding his speech, the Prime Minister praised Karachi’s contribution to Pakistan’s cultural and intellectual heritage.
He called for continued efforts to develop the city’s youth through arts and culture and ensure a brighter and more inclusive future for all.
The Aalmi Urdu Conference is a testament to Pakistan’s enduring cultural heritage, bringing together diverse voices to celebrate the power of language, art, and unity.
