Epic Games has reported that the addition of about 20 third -party games to the platform has taken bold measures to enhance the mobile app store. This expansion also includes global availability, and makes use of the changes caused by the EU digital market law (DMA).
EPIC plans to introduce a free game program starting with BLOONS TD 6 and Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee.
Support developers with fare compensation
To attract developers, Epic covers core technology rates (CTF). This is 0.50 euros (about 45 rupees) per year after downloading 1 million people a year and for the third -party market.
This support lasts for one year and aims to remove the barriers created by the Apple policy. Epic CEO’s Tim Sweeney called CTFs “catastrophic” and stated that this step was needed to enable competition in the app store.
App Store fight for freedom
Epic criticizes Apple’s restrictions, claiming a crowded competition, making it difficult for developers to list the games on alternative platforms. The company acknowledges that paying CTFs causes economic losses, but Sioney says that it is a necessary step to break what is called “Logjam” in the industry.
The EU leads and we are delayed
The iOS version of the Epic Games store is currently available only in the EU market. As a result, Apple is forced to open the ecosystem to competition.
EPIC wants to make DMAs stricter, which opens the way to a more strict mobile app market. Swney lamented the same lack of freedom in the United States, hindering the restrictions from downloading an app like Fortnite on iOS.
Growing user -based assignments
Despite his efforts, Epic’s mobile app store has struggled to achieve his goal and achieved only 29 million instruments by the end of 2024. Swoney returns this shortage to a barrier like a “scary screen”, a mobile “scary screen” in which more than 50 % of potential users stop the installation of the store.
