Viral lightning strikes shock netizens
Footage shows lightning striking the plane as it lands amid heavy rain. Social media users were left in shock and awe. One user commented: “This is both terrifying and incredible to watch!” Another expressed concern, writing: Nature is truly unpredictable. ” A third said: “Mother Nature is powerful and unforgiving,” while another added: “Imagine being on a plane during that!”
After a thorough inspection, the British Airways plane was cleared to take off and departed after a six-hour delay.

Storm in Sao Paulo brings city to a standstill
Heavy rain fell in São Paulo on Friday, January 24, causing widespread disruption. Heavy rain, equivalent to a month’s worth of rainfall, occurred in just a few hours, causing chaos and disrupting transportation, washing away cars and knocking out power to thousands of homes. Local residents took refuge in crowded subway stations as roads became impassable.
According to the BBC, a man was also seen traveling on a jet ski across a flooded road, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

Strong wind and flood warning
The storm was accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 60 kilometers per hour. Brazil’s civil defense agency issued a warning that the risk of flooding persists and urged residents to remain vigilant. “The objective is to protect residents during this storm, which is estimated to last 30 minutes to an hour,” the agency said, as reported by The Watchers.
Several areas in the West Zone, including Pompeia and Becos do Batman, as well as the neighboring areas of Santana and Tucurbi in the north, were also severely affected by flooding. Videos shared online showed the entire road submerged in water and vehicles floating on the road.
