The suspect has been identified as Anjaneya Prasad (37) from Kotamanganpeta village. Police learned of the incident after the suspect released a video message on social media platforms claiming the crime. In the video, he also said that he committed the crime as the police did not take any action on the sexual abuse complaint filed by the girl’s mother Chandrakala.
Investigation revealed that Chandrakala and Prasad had left for Kuwait as migrant workers. The couple left their 12-year-old daughter in the care of Chandrakala’s sister Lakshmi and her husband Venkataramana. Prasad alleged that Venkataramana’s father, Gatta Anjaneyur, 59, who is physically disabled, sexually abused the girl.
The girl recently told her mother in Kuwait about the incident. Chandrakala rushed to the village, questioned her sister about the same and also filed a police report. Police issued a warning to the molester.
Frustrated by the development, Prasad visited the village on Saturday (December 7) and killed Anjaneyur with an iron rod. He soon left the village and returned to Kuwait.
Police who rushed to the scene found no clues and reported the death as a “suspicious death.”
On Wednesday night (December 11), the Kuwaiti-born defendant released a video message in which he claimed responsibility for the murder and called for justice for his daughter. Prasad also said he intended to surrender to the police.
