Gukesh D channeled his ‘super cool’ avatar in the 11th game of the World Chess Championship against Ding Liren. Sunday’s world title match was a dramatic one, with Ding Liren’s blunder under mutual time pressure giving Gukesh a decisive victory. With the win, the 18-year-old Indian challenger extended his lead to 6-5 and topped the scoreboard for the first time with three games remaining. The sudden end to a highly complex battle brought Gukesh tantalizingly close to breaking Garry Kasparov’s record as the youngest undisputed world chess champion. That feat now seems within reach for the young prodigy from Chennai.

At the end of a tense match with little time left for both players, Ding Liren made a critical mistake, leaving Gukesh Donmaraj visibly shocked. Seizing this opportunity, Gukesh responded with a spectacular sacrifice of the queen, forcing Din to resign and achieving a remarkable victory. This dramatic development not only highlighted Gukesh’s composure under pressure, but also decisively shifted the momentum in his favor.

Indian teenage grandmaster D. Gukesh praised his team’s preparation after defeating reigning champion Ding Liren and taking a decisive step towards winning his first World Chess Championship title. Gukesh praised his team for their amazing opening advantage in the match and said: It will definitely surprise him. ”

The 18-year-old Indian also dismissed speculation that Lilen was playing conservatively for a draw. “I don’t think the opponent was playing for a draw. He had some better positions in the match. “This was a 14-game long match and we didn’t want to take the match to a tie-break. You can’t plan from scratch. Mistakes happen all the time in chess,” Gükesh said.
