Media reports have indicated that British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer will be attending the emergency summit late Saturday. The priority said Europe was in “a moment for our national security.”
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski spoke about the Paris conference planned at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, saying his country’s Prime Minister Donald Tass will head to Paris. Sikorsky said he hopes the Crisis Conference will discuss the challenges raised by President Donald Trump.
The unofficial summit comes a week after Trump called with Russian President Vladimir Putin about peace talks over the war in Ukraine.
Trump officials are heading to Saudi Arabia in the coming days to begin consultations. The EU is not invited to the negotiation table. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials are not aware of the consultation and the delegation has not traveled to Saudi Arabia.
“It is clear that Europe must take on a bigger role in NATO, working with the US to secure Ukraine’s future and to face the threats it faces from Russia,” says Star.
