Samsung has launched a new Galaxy S25 Ultra Trade-In offer that pays a higher price for old, unused smartphones.

The transaction applies to Samsung shops in the UK and promises to pay £200 ($251) for smartphones in any condition when purchasing a Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Korean company has previously implemented similar promotions, offering £100 ($126) from the Galaxy Watch FE for smartwatches in all conditions.

However, this deal is one of the more generous discounts as it appears to have no limits on older ones on trade-in phones. The terms and conditions do not mention any warnings of device constraints accepted for this offer.

However, there is a dedicated Samsung website for the devices that accept it. Certain sections of the “smartphone” promotion seem to be the latest as there is no Galaxy S25 category and no £200 offer has been mentioned.

Your old phone is still worth something

I checked with Samsung to see if the transaction really meant a smartphone (using a 2016 Google Pixel 1 as an example), and the company confirmed that the wording was accurate. The evidence is in the pudding so if you successfully turn off 200 pounds to send old devices with Slip Dic, we will contact you.

If a Korean company respects the promotion, you can get into trouble through storage on your old device and easily get £200 from your next phone. Or head to eBay, Swappa (or your local second-hand phone store) and buy a very cheap phone.

Trolling the eBay, the Pixel 4A was on sale for £50 ($62.98), Galaxy S2 ($26.45, listed as “collectable”), or for less than £40 ($50.38). Samsung says “in any condition,” but I think it’s a marketing story that means that scratches and dents are actually accepted.

The Trade-In Survey asks if the phone is compliant with the following criteria: However, I’m not sure this will not apply to new promotions. “Arbitrary condition” and “No cracks in the screen” are contradictory.

The device is turned on and charged. There is a functioning display. There are no signs of screen burns, ghost imaging, discolouration, colored tints, or image retention. Normal wear and tear. There are no cracks on the screen.

At the very least, you may need to turn on and make sure the battery is not damaged (you can look at the back of your phone to see if it’s expanding). It may be difficult to find a 8 year old phone that is still working properly. If you have decided to take this Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Deal and it works, please let me know.
