Guam Thaad Battery successfully completes evaluation of Table VIII> US Indo-Pacific Command>News Article View

Dededo, Guam –

As a testament to preparation and operational excellence, Tantalon’s E-3 ADA THAAD battery conducted a Table VIII evaluation of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system located in Guam from March 11-15, 2024. did.

E-3 THAAD batteries with state-of-the-art missile defense systems are tasked with protecting Guam and its surrounding areas from the threat of potential ballistic missiles. As security challenges evolve in this region, completing the assessment of Table VIII highlights the unit’s preparation to effectively deter and counter emerging threats. This assessment introduced unit proficiency in missile defense operations and highlighted its important role in strengthening regional security in the Pacific.

The 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command Senior Air Defense Leader, the 38th Air Defense Artillery Brigade and the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade were assessors.

“Table VIII is the first evaluation of a series of gunmanship tables introduced to external evaluators to assess battery proficiency for collective tasks to external evaluators,” said Chief Commander 4. Jennifer Burns, Reed Evaluator said.

Soldiers underwent a rigorous training scenario designed to test their ability to deploy, operate and maintain THAAD systems under simulated combat conditions. From rapid deployment drills to simulated missile engagement, this assessment included a variety of tasks to assess the combat readiness and proficiency of a unit.

Lt. Colonel Jonathan Stafford, commander of TF Talon, said, “The evaluator has certified that all crew members of the THAAD battery are skilled in all aspects of Guam Mission’s defense. Great job, E-3!”

Complete the Table VIII assessment reaffirms TF Talon’s commitment to excellence and its essential role in protecting peace and security in the Pacific. As Guam serves as a strategic front-post base in the region, the presence of TF Talons is crucial in maintaining aggression and stability in Indo-Pacific theatres.
