Aravind Srinivas-led Prplexity AI has launched its own deep research tool. While this is less than 3 minutes for most tasks, it claims that thorough research and analysis can help users save time. Perplexity already offers Deepseek R1 on its platform, and adding Deep Research will be a direct competition with AI Giants such as Openai and Google.
According to PREPLEXITY, Pro users have access to 500 queries per day, while free users get a limited number of answers. The new AI tool is already available on the Perplexity website, and the company says it will soon be deployed to the iOS, Android and Mac versions of the app.
To use deep search, users tap on the new option in the model picker under the search box and click on the new option.
How does deep research on Perplexity work?
According to Perplexity, its deep research tool runs dozens of searches, reads hundreds of sources and reasons, and reads what to do next, just as the way human researchers approach topics. Once the source material is complete, the AI agent can collect all the information into a “clear and comprehensive report” and export it as a PDF or a confused page to share with friends and family.
Confusion states that deep research can help provide “expert-level analysis” for a variety of complex topics, including finance, marketing and technology. The company also argues that deep research could potentially serve as “personal consultants” in areas such as health, product research and travel planning.
ChatGpt vs Perplexity vs Google: How do 3 Deep Search Agents work?
By its own admission, confusion lags behind the deep study of ChatGpt in the accuracy rankings of humanity’s last exam. However, Perplexity claims that its latest AI offering will beat Gemini Thinking, O3-Mini, Grok 2, Claude 3.5 Sonnet and more on the same benchmark.
While deep research on Perplexity may not be as close to ChatGpt in terms of accuracy, Srinivas claims that the new AI tool is “orders of magnitude faster and cheaper” than Openai offers I’m doing it. In particular, ChATGPT Deep Research only offers 100 queries to Pro users compared to 500 queries per day for paid users and limited queries for free users.
On the other hand, focusing on completing most tasks within 3 minutes can be a way to focus on confusion. This can take 30 minutes to several hours for a single query to complete.
While Google first launched its deep search tool based on the Gemini 1.5 Pro, Tech Giant is lagging behind Prplexity and ChatGpt with more powerful AI models.
