Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle secretly involved in American politics? Sussex under a scanner to fund Democrats?

The New York Post says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation is under scrutiny for making large donations to democratic political figures and organizations. It raised concerns about US involvement in politics, the publication added.

Public records reveal that in 2023, Archewell paid $146,500 to Jiore Craig, a media strategist known for fighting disinformation and supporting democratic campaigns. Craig was previously vice president of Greenberg, Quinlan and Rossner.

Rossner is a company that collaborated with Bill Clinton and Joe Biden. The foundation paid Craig $120,000 in 2022. The publication added that Achewell later joined the board of directors at Mercy Lab School, where he donated $25,000.

The controversy unfolds as US President Donald Trump said he was not interested in the possibility that Harry was lying to his visa application. According to the US President, Harry has “good enough for his wife” and Meghan Markle is “bad.”

Another notable donation of $90,000 went to Markup News, a nonprofit supported by George Soros’ Open Society Foundation and Craig Newmark (Craigslist founder). The largest donation, $250,000, was created in Women’s Wellness Space, a charity founded by Ashley Biden, daughter of President Joe Biden.

The controversy is escalating as members of the British royal family are traditionally expected to be politically neutral. Nile Gardiner, a conservative expert at the Heritage Foundation, called on Congress to investigate Archewell’s contributions. He said Harry and Meghan should not be involved politically as royals.

The couple’s spokesman defended the donation, adding that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not support the political candidate. The spokesman also argued that their financial contributions focused on mental health, digital safety and social well-being.

Meghan Markle’s political ambition

Meanwhile, Meghan’s potential political ambitions continue to be a topic of speculation, according to the publication. She and Harry previously met with Democratic leaders such as Gov. Kathy Hochul and former NYC mayor Bill de Blasio. They also held a private video conference with California Governor Gavin Newsom in 2021.
