Meta Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth has issued a harsh message to employees expressing their dissatisfaction with the company’s recent policy changes. According to a report by Business Insider, on an internal forum, Bosworth told staff “resigned” or “disagree” to work for the company.
Bosworth’s remarks came in response to concerns raised by employees about the company’s new policies and approach to handling internal Q&A sessions. The conversation took place in a group called “Let’s Fix Meta” in a post on Meta’s Internal Workplace Forum on January 30th.
Bosworth shared an article about CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s comments on comments at All Hands Meeting. He expressed his disappointment at Leaks, saying, “I saw all the angry/sad reactions about the format change, but I share a sense of loss about it, but this is what it was the right call. I think it’s clear.”
One employee criticized the company’s recent policy changes, including targeting the LGBTQ community, reducing data-checked DEI programs, and limiting internal speech. Bosworth said, “If your view is “everyone has to like all the policies we have, if it’s not appropriate for them to leak, you should consider working elsewhere.” I think so,” he replied.
Another employee agreed that the leak was counterproductive, but expressed dissatisfaction with the inability to discuss or appeal policy decisions. Bosworth replied, “If you feel that way, you should stop.”
Meta’s recent policy changes have sparked internal disputes by including decisions to reduce “low performers” and adjustments to content moderation. Some employees have expressed concern about the handling of the company’s transphobic and homophobic policies and the removal of posts at work, calling it a “free speech issue.”
