“Many 14 Palestinian children with cancer have flew to Italy for the latest treatment among dozens brought from Gaza following the Hamas-Israel War,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday. (February 14, 2025).

They were flying to Italy by Italian military planes and were greeted by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani at Ciampino Airport in Rome on Thursday evening (13 February 2025). “Treating children was part of Italy’s efforts to promote peace and dialogue in the region,” he said.
“Some children are scheduled to receive treatment in the capital, while others are heading north for treatment in hospitals, including Turin and Milan,” a spokesperson for the province said. The two children disembarked to Rome and headed to the Vatican Bambino Guess Hospital, where nine other Palestinian children were treated last year.

“All nine people, ages 1 to 15, have been released from hospital,” a hospital spokesperson told AFP. Italy has been one of several European countries to treat children injured or sick in Gaza since the war began on October 7, 2023.
“Every child we bring to Italy is a sign of hope and a commitment to life and the future,” said Secretary of Defense Guido Closett. The first 11 Palestinian children arrived in Italy in January 2024, and dozens more arrived in the next few months, some flew and were transported by the Italian naval vessel Valcano .
