Exclusive: Jackal Day seems to have been a sleeper for the Peacock.
The Eddie Redmayne-led political thriller has become the streamer’s most watched new original drama series after 75 days of viewership, says NBCuniversal.
Apparently, the series has been a global success, and has now launched the biggest new series ever on Sky. Typically, NBCU did not provide accurate numbers, but it was previously revealed that the first episode reached 4.6 million viewers on Sky alone in the first 28 days .
Jackal Day debuted as one of the top 10 streaming original dramas during its debut week in the US on November 14th, according to Nielsen. However, it was under the streaming microthreshold of 320m that was included in Nielsen’s overall streaming original list for that interval.
It was also ranked again in the week of the finale on December 12th, but again not on the streaming original list.
Still, this recent milestone shows that the series continues to gain momentum rather than losing it as it is common in streaming series. It’s no wonder Peacock and Skye handed it over to a rather quick update following the season 1 finale.
