Apple is most likely to launch iOS 18.4, the next wave of Apple Intelligence in April. This update will introduce major updates to the AI front. The company has been developing Apple Intelligence functions since October 2024. However, some big ones that have reached WWDC 2024 have yet to come out. For example, Siri overhaul, new languages, etc. iOS 18.3 is also expected to extend Apple Intelligence’s capabilities to more languages. Let’s take a closer look.
Apple Intelligence could be in India soon in April
Currently, Indian users are investigating Apple Intelligence by changing their default language to English or Canadian English. Besides this, Apple Intelligence is available in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK. However, Indian English has not arrived yet. But what does that mean? This means that if these features support Indian English, users do not need to change the default settings.
It also means that if you plan to purchase a new iPhone eligible for Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro model or iPhone 16 series), it will be available for use with Apple Intelligence. Apple previously confirmed, “In April, software updates will provide even more language support throughout the year. Vietnamese and other languages will be supported.”
New iOS 18.4 Features
New Siri Features: iOS 18.4 is set up to provide Apple’s most anticipated extensions to Apple Intelligence and Siri, and promises to make your virtual assistant really smart. This update introduces three major SIRI upgrades: It’s the ability to perform personal context, on-screen recognition, and the action in the app.
– Personal Context: Siri provides a deeper understanding of your personal data and customized assistance. Can’t leave behind recipes that a friend shares and remember whether they’re included in notes, texts, or emails? Do I need a passport number while booking my flight? Siri helps you search for relevant information on your device and quickly find what you need. Everything maintains Apple’s commitment to privacy.
– On-screen recognition: With Apple Intelligence, Siri gains the ability to act based on what’s on-screen. For example, if a friend sends a new address via text, simply say “Add this address to your contact card” and Siri will handle the rest.
– Perform actions in apps: Siri enables seamless interactions within and between apps. You can ask certain recipients to send draft emails by saying, “Please send draft emails to April and Lily.” You can also perform multi-app tasks, such as “my pop this photo” and enhancing the photo, or asking Siri to save it to a specific note in the Notes app.
New Emojis: In recent years, Apple has consistently introduced new emojis with Spring IOS updates. This is expected to continue. Unicode Consortium has already revealed the latest batches of emojis, and it’s up to Apple to bring them to iOS. This year’s additions include fingerprints, bag face under the eyes, harp, root vegetables, leafless trees, splatters and shovels, providing even more ways for users to express themselves visually.
Improved News Summary: Apple has paused its news summary feature as it has been reportedly generating fake headlines. However, iOS 18.4 can regain that with the necessary improvements.
