Disney executives react to Fantastic Four trailer rumors

As rumors began hinting at the first Fantastic Four trailer debuting at the Super Bowl, a Disney executive shared his own brief reaction to what was being said.

Marking the last of the three MCU movies released in 2025, The Fantastic Four: First Steps helps provide a milestone moment for Marvel Studios. This is the first time the quartet is fully integrated into the divine timeline, as the stage is also set for what could happen in the next two Avengers movies.

During the filming of this solo movie, which ends in November 2024, Marvel has released minimal marketing at this point. However, one major event on the horizon is starting to look like the destination for a true first look at Marvel Studios’ first family.

Disney’s chief brand officer Asad Ayaz has responded to online rumors suggesting that fans may see the first trailer for Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Rumors on X (formerly Twitter) stated that Marvel was scheduled to release the first Fantastic Four trailer at Super Bowl Lix on Sunday, February 9th. Ayaz responded by simply asking, “What?” In his own post.

This may seem like an innocuous reply, but Ayaz has pulled this same tactic ahead of past MCU trailer debuts.

Fans used the same reply to a rumor suggesting that the first trailer for 2022’s Doctor Strange in the 2022 Multiverse of Madness would be used as a post-credits scene for 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home I saw you there. This turned out to be completely accurate when How to Get Home didn’t debut.

If this rumor about Fantastic Four’s first trailer is true, it will arrive 166 days before the movie hits theaters on July 25th.

This ties the film with 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the fourth longest gap between first trailer and release date in the multiverse saga, and trails Marvel and Captain America: Brave New World . It’s also slightly above the average for the first 13 movies (155.5 days).

The complete list of release date gaps from the first trailer of the multiverse saga can be seen below.

Black Widow – 150 Days (Before Delay) Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – 136 daysernals -165 daysspider -man: home no way -home -116 Daysdoctor Strange of Madivers of Madsor -135 Daysthor: Love and Thunder -81 Daysblack Panther: Wakanda Forever – 116 Days of the Man and the Hornet: Quantumania -116 Daysguardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3-156 DaysThe Marvels -213 Daysdeadpool & Wolverine -166 Dayscaptain America: Brave New World -217 DaysSunderbolts* -221 Days

Based on these numbers and Ayaz’s previous activity, it seems likely that fans will get the first official trailer for Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: The First Steps of Super Bowl Lix.

What to expect in the upcoming Fantastic Four trailer

So far, the only footage anyone has seen from Fantastic Four is the concept footage shot exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con and D23 (read more about this Fantastic Four footage here). The first official trailer may not reveal much, but it will be the first official image anyone has seen from this new outing.

The focus is on the titular quartet (played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss Bach) as they supposedly take their place as celebrities in their own universe.

The film is said to avoid the classic Fantastic Four origin story. That means the team almost certainly controls symbolic power. Plot details are kept under wraps, but this first look could tease some as fans eagerly wait to see how the group fits into the larger MCU.

Set in a universe outside of Earth-616, the Fantastic Four synopsis teased the team facing their biggest challenge yet. This battle with Galactus, known as the Destroyer of the comic book world, could end horribly if he forces the team into another universe.

The other big question fans have about this movie is whether it will include another expected major villain. Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom.

Following his announcement as the ultimate antagonist of the Multiverse saga, many believe he could get his official MCU return via a small role in Fantastic Four. However, if he ends up in this movie, there’s a chance he won’t exist from what was shown in the trailer.

Regardless of what’s shown, this first trailer should be one of the biggest hits of the movie being promoted during Super Bowl LIX.

Fantastic Four: The First Step flies to theaters on July 25th.
