Kishane Thompson made his 2025 season debut in the 60 meters at the Central Hurdle, Relay and Field events in Jamaica. The Olympic silver medalist dominated the lineup, setting a personal best time of 6.48 seconds in the 60-meter dash.

Thompson has emerged as one of the favorites for Olympic glory after setting the fastest time in the 100m dash in the 2024 season. He competed against top athletes such as Noah Lyles, Fred Curley, and Oblique Seville. However, Noah Lyles overpowered him in the 100m dash at the last moment, and the Jamaican had to settle for silver. This was his last race of 2024.

After months of training, Kishane Thompson returned to the track to compete in the central hurdle, relay and 60m field events, and his performance took the track world by storm.

Fans told X what they thought of Thompson’s season-opening performance.

“He’s taking his loss at this year’s Olympics personally 🔥🔥,” a fan wrote.

“I’m betting he’ll be on the field for the next four years. Jamaica will be back,” another fan chimed in.

Another fan wrote, “6.48 seconds with a 2.1m/s headwind?! That’s insane power and speed! Kishain starts the season with a statement. 🔥🇯🇲.”

Here are some other fan reactions:

“This would be close to Christian Coleman’s indoor world record done in the same conditions (at altitude with no assisting wind). This would also be close to his best outdoor 60 meter split record (6.38 in 2023). seconds),” a fan wrote.

“We have a problem,” another fan chimed in.

Another fan tweeted: “If I were Kishane Thompson’s team I would push the marketing on him. He’s a beast and good looking. Perfect.”

Kishane Thompson had a great performance in his Olympic debut in the French capital. In addition to winning the silver medal, the Jamaican athlete revealed how much experience he gained while competing with the world’s best athletes.

Additionally, the quadrennial games taught me a lot about perseverance and perseverance when participating in major competitions.

“I gained a lot of experience running with all these great competitors. The first thing I learned going through something like this is I have to be more patient with myself. So the second thing is, that last part is what you have to understand for yourself.” The race is the most complicated, and the third thing is, when the final is this close, you push yourself even harder. It’s something we have to make big,” he said.

Thompson made it clear that he will take everything he learns into consideration and incorporate it into his practice as he continues his quest to achieve greatness.
