BHUBANESWAR: In a major step towards strengthening the technology ecosystem, the Odisha government on Friday entered into a partnership with ITE Education Services (ITEES), a subsidiary of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) under the Singapore Ministry of Education.

The partnership aims to expand the World Skills Center in Bhubaneswar and establish a world-class center for IT and ITES in areas such as cyber security, cloud computing, blockchain, Internet of Things, and data science. .

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education (SD&TE) and ITEES in the presence of Singapore President Thurman Shanmugaratnam and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Shanmugaratnam, who arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday for a two-day official visit, became the first head of state to visit eastern India and signaled strengthening of bilateral ties.

At least eight memorandums of understanding were signed during the visit, promoting cooperation across a wide range of sectors. These include skills development, new courses in semiconductors, sustainable energy technologies, green hydrogen and ammonia, industrial park development, sustainable insurtech and urban development planning.

As part of the agreement, ITEES will support the development of a skills ecosystem in Odisha with a focus on technical, industrial, vocational and entrepreneurship training through AI-based technologies. It will also expand knowledge support to establish zonal ITIs across the state, introduce new trades and ensure strong industry engagement.
