Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called on Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Thursday to discuss the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in bilateral talks.

“It is a pleasure to meet His Excellency the President of the Republic of Singapore @Tharman_S. India values our comprehensive strategic partnership with Singapore.

“This visit of the President will strengthen the bilateral relations as we commemorate our 60th anniversary,” the finance minister said in a post on X.

India-Singapore relations were elevated to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024.

The President will be accompanied by Second Minister of Finance and Minister of Transport Chee Hong Tat.

“The two leaders discussed the #comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, focusing on areas such as #fintech, #digital technology, #semiconductor ecosystem, and #skills development.

“Both sides expressed confidence in expanding #trade and #investment relations over the coming decades,” the Treasury said in a separate post on X.

The President of Singapore arrived here on Tuesday night for a five-day visit aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations in various areas.
