Mr Farage told Reform UK’s East Midlands conference in Leicester on Friday that Mr Musk had “a very wide range of opinions, some of which I strongly agree with, others with which I am more reluctant.” There are some opinions,” he said.
Despite this, Mr Farage described Mr Musk as a “remarkable newcomer” to American politics.
Musk was the “hero” of the Twitter acquisition, he said. “At least thanks to Elon, we have our freedom of speech back,” he added.
“Whether you like everything he says or not, he is a hero,” Mr Farage said.
Mr Musk is said to be willing to make a significant donation to Reform UK, and Mr Farage believes he will continue to be “very helpful” to the party’s cause.
On Friday, Health Secretary Wes Streeting slammed Mr Musk’s attack on the government’s response to grooming gangs, calling it “misjudged and definitely misinformed”.
Mr Musk posted a series of messages on X, criticizing Sir Keir Starmer for failing to prosecute gangs who systematically groomed and raped young girls, and calling for protection minister Jess Phillips to be jailed.
Asked about his comments, Mr Streeting said the government takes the issue of child sexual exploitation “very seriously”.
Conservatives have also criticized Musk for “sharing factual errors.”
