Top 10 Netflix Titles for the Week of December 23, 2024

Like a present under the Christmas tree, fans couldn’t wait for new episodes of Squid Game to be released this week. Season 2 of the hit Korean series from creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk and star Lee Jeong-jae topped non-English TV with a whopping 68 million views and ranked #1 in 92 countries. The most viewed record has been updated. For premiere week shows (previously set for Season 1 Wednesday in 2022, with 50.1 million views).

Since its release on December 26, the show’s second installment has already become the seventh most popular non-English TV show on Netflix in record time. Squid Game Season 1 remains at the top with 265.2 million views. and promoted the multiplayer video game Squid Game. #1 action game on the App Store in 57 countries. And there will be more to come. The third and final season is scheduled to be released in 2025.

NFL Christmas Gameday Live also had a big win. Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans (featuring Beyoncé’s thrilling halftime performance and now available to stream as a standalone special) and Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers take first and second place . It came second on the UK TV list with 14.4 million and 14.3 million views respectively. The NFL Christmas games are the two most streamed NFL games in U.S. history.

Meanwhile, Carry On topped the UK movies list for the third consecutive week with 34.9 million views. Furthermore, interest in the historical drama “The Six Triple Eight” remained high in its second week, ranking second with 23.3 million views.

Fans also get their blood pumping in thrillers like The Madness (#7 on English TV, 3 million views) and Spain’s 1992 (#9 on non-English TV, 1.2 million views). I let it boil. They also enjoyed a heartwarming romance on Virgin River Season 6, which was watched 9.2 million times and ranked third on British TV this week. Season 1 ranked 10th with 1.3 million views. Additionally, there was a lot of love for South Africa’s Umjolo: The Day Ones, which secured the fourth place among non-English films with a whopping 2 million views.

Fittingly, the Christmas spirit intensified during the holiday week, with films like That Christmas (No. 3 in English-language movies, 11.9 million views), The Black Dove (No. 5 on English-language TV, 5.4 million views), and Our Little Secret (3rd place British film, viewed 11.9 million times). (7th place in English movies, 7 million views) All of them left an impression on me.

Fans are also paying close attention to a number of dramas, with Norway’s “La Palma” holding steady as the No. 2 non-English TV show (12.2 million views) and South Korea’s “When the Phone Rings.” is in 4th place (viewed 4.4 million times). “One Hundred Years of Solitude in Colombia: Part 1” set a record in sixth place (1.8 million views), while Brazilian limited series “Sena” finished its fifth week in the rankings in 8th place with 1.4 million views.

This home season this year, Belgian’s The Ferry 2 (#1 non-English film, with 6.1 million views) was well-received by viewers, while its 2021 predecessor, The Ferry, was watched with 1.4 million views. It was enough to move up to 8th place. Other movies include Italy’s The Children’s Train (third place among non-English films with 2.3 million views) and Yo-Yo, a documentary about India’s famous singer, music producer and actor that has been viewed 1.1 million times. Many people also used “Honey Singh: Famous”. (No. 10 among non-English films).
