Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett gave NFL fans a laugh during Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

With the game tied at 7 and about 12 minutes left in the first half, Pickett stepped back to throw the ball but didn’t let it go. He stepped forward as if to throw it, but gripped the football tightly. He chased as if to pass, but the ball never left his hands.

Pickett fell to the ground untouched and the ball spilled from his hands. Luckily, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was there to get the ball back.

NFL fans immediately called it the worst play they had ever seen.

Pickett had the last laugh at the end of the first half. He threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith with 6:38 left in the first half and ran the ball from the goal line into the end zone as time expired in the second half.

The reserve gained 133 passing yards in the first half. The Eagles led the Cowboys 24-7 at halftime.

Pickett was given the starting role just before the Eagles’ penultimate game of the 2024 season against the Cowboys. Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion in the first quarter of last week’s game against the Washington Commanders and did not return to full health in time.

Philadelphia hopes to close out the NFC East with a win against the Cowboys. The Washington Commanders are trailing with a 10-5 record.
