HYDERABAD: Telangana state has attracted Rs 12,864 crore through foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first two quarters of 2024-25, compared to Rs 9,676 crore in the same period in 2023-24. It increased by 33%.

Accounting for 5.17 per cent of the total FDI received by India, India ranks sixth in terms of attracting foreign investments, officials said.

Industry ministry officials said that FDI inflows into the state have increased as the government has ensured an investor-friendly environment. The government has not set any hurdles for investors, they added. Officials said Telangana state is at the forefront of attracting foreign investments in the pharmaceutical and information technology sectors.

“The government is also encouraging investment in other potential sectors, such as the automotive, construction, and new and renewable energy sectors,” they said.

On the other hand, the total FDI received by the state is spread over only four districts. Hyderabad continues to be the top FDI destination among other districts.

Of the total FDI received by the state, around 93% investments were made in Hyderabad. Rs 11.97 billion was donated to the state capital, Rs 680.5 million to Rangareddy district, Rs 116.7 million to Mahbubnagar and Rs 96.999 billion to Medak.
