WWE is in the midst of determining the next challenger to the WWE Women’s Speed Championship, held by Candice LeRae. Unfortunately, injuries occurred along the way.
On Friday afternoon, WWE released footage (via X) of the quarterfinal tournament match between Natalya and B-Fab. However, as WWE commentator Corey Graves pointed out, this was not the original match matchup. Zelina Vega, a member of the “WWE Raw” roster, was originally scheduled to face Natalya after her victory over Chelsea Green in the opening round of the WWE Women’s Speed Championship tournament. Vega then suffered an injury that prevented him from participating in the tournament. Therefore, B-Fab qualified for the quarterfinals instead.
There’s no word on the extent of Vega’s injury or when he plans to return to the ring. The Latina World Order member last competed on the December 9 episode of “Raw,” where she and Ivy Nile lost to Lyla Valkyria in the first round of the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament. It is worth noting that before that, Vega, along with Rey Mysterio, defeated Nile and Chad Gable in tag team competition on “Raw”.
As for Vega’s WWE Women’s Speed Championship tournament alternate B-Fab, she initially lost to Natalya in that opening round. The same result continued in the quarterfinals, with Natalya rolling up and scoring the pinfall. From now on, the “Queen of Hearts” will face Michin in the semi-finals, and the winners will challenge Luraye for their respective titles.
