The coming-of-age story of a legendary writer shouldn’t be this effective, but the writing and acting remain sharp and entertaining throughout the three seasons.

There’s nothing wrong with having everyone involved at the top of their game.

Season 2 gets even more ambitious with the addition of Steve Zahn as the sole survivor of another silo.

Gary Oldman is phenomenal as the warden of Slough House, a sort of boarding house for British spies who made mistakes in more important positions. Of course, they usually save the day.

Morgan Neville pulls off a fun trick with this Apple series that’s actually like two feature-length documentaries. The second is a more intimate account of Martin’s later life, including his films, art, and writing. A must-see for fans of the greatest of all time.

A great ensemble, including O’Shea Jackson Jr., Isaiah Hill, Cinele Azorou, and Kwavenzhane Wallis, helps and delivers on all the promise of Beasts of the Southern Wild.
