Kathua, December 18: The 13th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket Championship 2024-25 was inaugurated today by Jammu Zone Police (ADGP) Additional Commissioner of Police Anand Jain at the Sports Stadium in Kathua. . The event was attended by prominent personalities like DIG Jammu Samba Kathua Renji, Shiv Kumar Sharma, SSP Kathua Shobhit Saxena and others.
Jains paid heartfelt tributes to the brave police martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He said Jammu and Kashmir Police will always honor their sacrifices and continue to promote sports to channel the energy of the youth in a positive direction.
He expressed gratitude to the District Police Kathua Shaheed Welfare Committee for organizing the mega cricket championship in memory of the police martyrs. A total of 16 teams will participate in the championship, with league matches up to the quarterfinals and knockout format thereafter.
SSP Kathua Shobhit Saxena briefed the audience about the history of the championship which started in 2010. Shaheed Welfare Committee Chairman expressed his gratitude to the chief guest, Kathua Police and the sponsors for their support in organizing the event.
DC Kathua Rakesh Minhas, PTS Chief Kathua Manjit Kul, SP Operations Kathua Khandi Nasir Khan, Additional SP Kathua Rahul Charak, DAR Kathua Subhash Chander, DySP Headquarters Kathua Manjit were present at the inauguration ceremony. – Singh, DySP PC Kathua Tilak and other prominent personalities were present. Raj Bhardwaj, former police officer, family of police martyrs and sponsor of the championship.
Meanwhile, in the opening match of the 13th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone T-20 Championship, LB Shastri Delhi defeated Sabi CC Hoshiarpur. Savi CC set a target of 98 runs and posted 97/10 in 20 overs. LB Shastri chased down the target in 16.1 overs and won by 8 wickets. Vikas Dixit was named Man of the Match with 26 runs and 3 wickets.
