At Apple, we’re committed to protecting your data, and our products and features are built from the ground up with innovative privacy technologies and techniques. Privacy is a fundamental part of the design process, driven by principles such as data minimization, on-device intelligence, transparency and control, and strong security protections that work together to provide great experiences and peace of mind for users. will be done. This applies to all of our products and services, including Siri, our most private digital assistant, designed to protect your privacy.
Apple has never used Siri data to build marketing profiles, used it for advertising, or sold it to anyone for any purpose. We’re constantly developing and will continue to develop technology to make Siri even more private.
Here’s how Siri protects your data.
Siri uses on-device processing whenever possible
To protect your privacy, Siri is designed to perform as much processing as possible directly on your device, allowing you to create personalized, personalized experience. When a user speaks or types to Siri, the request is fulfilled on the device whenever possible. For example, when you ask Siri to read an unread message, or when Siri provides a suggestion through a widget or Siri Search, that action occurs on your device. The message content is not sent to Apple servers because it is not necessary to fulfill your request. Additionally, for supported devices, user-requested audio is processed entirely on the device using Neural Engine, unless the user chooses to share it with Apple. 1
Apple minimizes amount of data collected for Siri requests
Apple tries to do the best it can on its devices, but certain features require real-time input from Apple servers. In that case, Siri uses as little data as possible to provide accurate results. Siri searches and requests are not tied to your Apple account. A random identifier (a long string of letters and numbers associated with a single device) is used to track data while it is being processed, rather than tying the data to your identity through an Apple account or phone number. (a process we believe is unique among digital assistants in use today).
Apple does not retain audio recordings of your Siri interactions unless you explicitly opt in to help us improve Siri. And even then, the recordings will only be used for that purpose. Users can easily opt out at any time.
Breakthrough privacy protection with private cloud computing
With the capabilities provided by Apple Intelligence, we are at the beginning of a new era for Siri, making it easier for users to use built-in intelligence features that make Siri more capable, personal, and useful every day. so that you can complete your work.
Designed to protect your privacy every step of the way, many of the models that power Apple Intelligence run entirely on-device. For Apple Intelligence requests that require access to larger models, Private Cloud Compute extends iPhone privacy and security to the cloud, unlocking even more intelligence. When Siri uses Private Cloud Compute, your data is not stored or accessible by Apple, and Private Cloud Compute uses your data only to fulfill your requests.
