A Kerala court acquitted Malayalam film actor Shine Tom Chacko and six others in the 2015 NDPS case.
The order was issued by the first additional district and session judge of Ernakulam.
According to the allegations, the actor and others were captured by police in a search at a Kadhavantara apartment, based on confidential information that a smoke party was being held. The alleged incident occurred on January 30, 2015. The prosecutor’s complaint was that the actor and others were smoking cigarettes smeared with cocaine or other drug substances.
This offence is subject to actors and others at the Kadhavantara Police Station, claiming section 21(b) (penals for violations relating to manufactured drugs and preparation), 27(a) (penals for consumption of narcotics or psychotropic drugs) and 29. It was registered in response. (NDPS Act Reporting and Punishment for Criminal Conspiracy). Actor Shintom was arranged as the third defendant.
The defendant faced trial and was not guilty under section 235 of the CRPC.
