Based on the book on Ice and Fire by author George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones was a vast fantasy drama that dealt with a variety of families from seven kingdoms, from the Lannister of Starks to Targaryen who lives in exile. The first series House of the Dragon delves into the Targaryen family. The Targaryen ruled Westeros for centuries before abdication.
It’s no secret that HBO turned on and off other Game of Thrones ideas even before the original show ended in 2019. Knights of the Seven Kingdom will air later this year. This is much smaller in scale than any of its predecessors. Following the Knight and his Squire as he travels through Westeros during the extinct history of the dragon. With a huge battle with the Dragon, House of the Dragon remains a marquee follow-up in Game of Thrones.
However, House of the Dragon ends after the fourth season. What will come after that? HBO executive Frances Caorsi hinted at the possibility while talking about deadlines. “We have other spinoffs we’re working on right now. One of them is that I won’t get in – is very promising and it’s still a Targaryen line,” she said. “There are many other spinoffs. We can’t really guarantee what will move forward, but for the others it’s a very big budget.”
It is important to emphasize that any of the other spinoffs Orsi is talking about must be convinced that there are ideas that focus on the Targaryen that she is free to suggest. In fact, we’ve already heard a lot about it. Unless Orsi hides something big, she’s referring to Egon Targaryen’s show about Westeros’ conquest. Dragon. It is the basic story of Martin’s mythology and is worth telling on screen.
Screenwriter Mattson Tomlin has been working on Batman films and the Netflix Show Terminator Zero, and has been working with Martin for a while to develop prequels of Egon’s Conquest and in the best way to tell the story. This show will eventually be made and the air will arrive after the Dragon House finishes its run, and I think Orsi will agree with me.
For now, Game of Thrones fans have the first season of Knights of Seven Kingdoms looking forward to the second half of the year (Orsi is looking at the three season plans for that show), and Dragon House The third season of 2026.
