Tencent Holdings He said he is testing integration of deepseekChina’s most popular super app operators are turning to AI (AI) and offering services on Weixin to enhance their suite of services from social networking to electronic pay and passenger compartments.
In current beta testing, users can access DeepSeek in addition to Tencent’s Hunyuan Foundational model by clicking on the “AI Search” option in the search bar within Weixin. This feature is currently unavailable wechatthe overseas version of the app will be called.
Users can “have (enjoy) a more diverse search experience for the full version of the DeepSeek-R1 model for free,” said a Tencent representative.
DeepSeek-R1 is an open source inference model released on January 20th by a Hangzhou-based startup. This created waves in China and abroad as it showed capabilities comparable to those of Openai, Anthropic and Google’s more advanced models. Training costs are significantly lower.

When DeepSeek is integrated into Weixin, AI will be in the hands of 1.3 billion active users involved in the Super App each month, using it for chatting, sharing, watching videos, transferring money and shopping.
