President Donald Trump’s policies have led to a growing number of regret, as he now faces economic losses and uncertainty from some of his most loyal voters (farmers and teachers). Trump’s core Magazine supporters support his decision, but the number of Republicans is rising as federal funding freezes and policy changes threaten their livelihoods.

Farmers are struggling as Trump stops food aid and farm funds

One of the biggest shocks for American farmers is the Trump administration’s decision to freeze US Organization for International Development (USAID) food aid spending. The Washington Post reports that American farms provided about 41% of USAID food aid, reaching $2.1 billion in 2020. However, the decision to suspend Trump’s food aid purchases has left farmers uncertain about the future.

Another concern is Trump’s trade policy. Many farmers still remember the trade war with China during his first term, which led to retaliatory tariffs and hurt us the exports of soybeans and corn. Now, as Trump is revisiting similar trade strategies, farmers fear repeating these economic losses.

Trump supporter Skylar Holden, a Missouri rancher, shared his frustration with Tiktok after the administration froze a $240,000 cost-sharing agreement with the USDA (USDA). The contract was intended to fund the improvements to his ranch’s fencing and water systems. “I’ve already paid for the materials and labor,” Holden said in the video. “If NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Services) does not enter into a contract with us, we may lose our farm.”

Teachers fear unemployment as Trump targets the Department of Education

Trump is also aiming to demolish the Department of Education. This is a move that surprised teachers all over the country. Even those who voted for him are worried about what federal government budget cuts mean for schools. Jennifer Blankenship, principal at Bell Central School Center in Kentucky, has confirmed that she has supported Trump in past elections, but is now deeply interested. “I voted for President Trump to make America again and improve our lives,” she told CNN. However, she acknowledged that cutting education has devastating effects. “If there’s a federal cut, that means the classroom size is large. We’re losing teachers ahead of everything. It’s devastating.”

Regret grows among MAGA voters as policy returns home

Many Republicans who supported Trump were hoping for economic growth and policy changes that would benefit them. Instead, they face federal cuts, financial losses and uncertainty. Farmers have lost millions due to frozen aid and fear of trade. The pastor is suffering from a cancelled USDA contract. Teachers are worried about losing staff and resources.

While some of Trump’s most devoted supporters continue to support him, others are beginning to question whether his policies are consistent with their best interests. As the impact of his decision unfolds, more voters are realizing that political choices could have real consequences.
