New Delhi: Captain Kapildev at Friday’s World Cup has raised concerns about the rise in injuries to Indian cricketers and denounced a tight schedule that keeps players on the field for nearly 10 months a year. He noted that the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru has become a rehabilitation centre, with players spending more time recovering than training.

Opinion survey

What do you think of India’s chances in the Champions Trophy without Bumra?

The latest set-off is Jasplit Bumura, who is at the forefront of India’s pace. He missed the second inning of the final Test in Sydney due to a back injury. Originally named by the Indian Champions Trophy team, Bumura was removed from the tournament.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Shami, the wicket taker who led India with 24 scalps at the 2023 ODI World Cup, suffered a leg injury after undergoing final and surgery. His 14-month recovery left him on the sidelines and Gabaskar trophies, which India lost for the first time in a decade, leaving Bumura without a reliable bowling partner.
“What worries me is that they play for 10 months a year. Injuries are much more common,” said the skipper, who won the 1983 World Cup.
When asked if Bumra would be missed in the Champions Trophy, Kapil said, “Why do you talk about people who aren’t on the team? It’s a team game, and the team needs to win, not individually. We’re in the Champions Trophy I play team sports in.

How Mohamed Shami’s Horoscope Proclaims Success in the Indian Champions Trophy

“I will never get hurt in the main player, but if that happens, I can’t do anything about it. I wish my Indian team good luck.
India will launch its Champions Trophy Campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20th.

Champions Trophy: Will India and South Africa clash in another ICC Final?

Kapil said he is excited to have been increasing so many talents with the Indian cricket team recently.
“When we saw young people, their confidence was incredible. When we were younger, we weren’t as confident. Good luck.”
