New Delhi:
Delhi court on Wednesday convicted MP Sajjan Kumar in the murder of two people in Saraswati Bihar region during anti-Sikh riots.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja passed a conviction order and posted a discussion on the verdict on Feburary 18.
Kumar was produced in court from Tihar Prison for declaration.
This incident is related to the murder of Jaswant Singh and his son Tarundeep Singh on November 1, 1984.
The Punjabi Bug Police Station first registered the case, but a special investigation team later took over the investigation.
On December 16, 2021, the court filed accusations against Kumar and found a “primarily” lawsuit against him.
The huge mob, armed with deadly weapons, relied on to revenge the massive looting of Sikh property, arson and the assassination of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, according to the prosecution.
The mob attacked the house of the complainant Jaswant’s wife, looting articles of looting, claiming to prosecutors that he left the house to kill his husband and son.
Taking Kumar to trial, the court order found sufficient material to form “a prima facie opinion that he was not only a participant, but also led a mob.”
