Erdogan in Türkiye, Malaysia: Israel must rebuild Gaza for a cost of USD 100 billion

Israel After destroying the territory, they will have to pay US$100 billion to rebuild Gaza. turkeyPresident Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday during his visit to Malaysia that he urged Muslims and other countries to strongly push the Palestinian state in eastern Jerusalem as the capital.

Türkiye and Malaysia are one of the most vocal opponents of Israel’s 16-month war in Gaza.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Territories, the war killed more than 47,000 Palestinians (mostly women and children) in Gaza. Hostility was stopped on January 19th after Israeli-Palestinian extremist group Hamas signed a ceasefire contract that included the exchange of hostages and prisoners.

US President Donald Trump proposed rebuilding Gaza under American “ownership” and relocating Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan. Malaysia and other countries have denounced Trump’s idea as an equivalent to ethnic cleansing.

On the first day of his two-day visit to Malaysia, Erdogan rejected an attempt to banish Palestinians from Gaza, in an obvious reference to Trump’s proposal.

The Gaza buildings have been devastated by Israeli attacks, with about 50 million tonnes of debris scattered throughout the territory, Erdogan said.
