India has officially rejected the BRICS currency, calling it “impossible”

India has officially confirmed that it does not support the formation of a BRICS currency to challenge the US dollar. The Modi government has revealed that India is accepting the US dollar and will use currency for cross-border transactions. The country will resolve payments in local currency with other developing countries. The U-turn comes after Trump escaped India from tariffs, but imposed them on Canada, Mexico and China.

China, a BRICS member, may not underestimate India’s stance as communist countries want to launch a new currency. They are working closely with Russia and Iran to form a currency to uproot the global domination of the US dollar. Federal Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has confirmed that India does not support any form of BRICS currency. He made it clear that India does not want to share a common currency with China. For beginners, India and China have been in Loggerheads for over 50 years in border disputes and trade wars. Accepting China’s stance will make Modi government appear weaker and hinder the election outlook.

However, plans to launch the BRICS currency are still alive as China, Russia and Iran pursue ideas. Deco-op is the trio’s biggest goal as they aim to end their dependence on the US dollar.
