The Tennessee Titans are reportedly expected to at least listen to the offer for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft over the coming months.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Titan has a “open heart” when it comes to picks and potential trade offers. Rapoport added that Titans is expected to receive calls from teams who are actually interested in the top selection as well.
The big reason the Titans had the league’s worst 3-14 record in 2024 is how Levis and Mason Rudolph combine to throw nearly as many touchdowns as they throw 22 touchdowns and 21-pick interceptions. It was a quarterback play.
So the Titans were able to make the No. 1 overall selection the new franchise quarterback, taking into account either Miami’s Camward or Colorado’s Shedule Sanders.
However, most talent-related reviewers don’t seem to see Ward and Sanders in the same light as last year’s quarterback classes: Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels and Drake May.
Williams, Daniels and May left the board with the first three picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. All of them were seen as high-quality quarterback prospects that would likely be a quality NFL player.
Things are a bit uncertain in Ward and Sanders, so the Titans can instead choose to go with the best players available.
The BR NFL Scouting division ranked Ward as the 8th overall player and 16th in the 2025 NFL Draft on the latest major board, while Hunter and Carter were No. 1. It was 1 and 2.
The football business’s Titan president, Chad Blinker, appears to be showing that the organization will not force a pick at quarterback if it felt better players were available in other positions last month.
If Titan trades from the No. 1 general pick, that’s probably one of two reasons.
In one scenario, Titan is trading with a team that wants to move up for the quarterback. In that scenario, Titan was able to move to a location he believes he could still land the elite prospects in another position, such as Hunter or Carter.
Other potential situations may be that Titan wants a quarterback but feels confident he is still available in the tradedown scenario.
No matter what the Titans do, they are in Catbird’s seating. They were able to set themselves for future success by swapping top picks or selecting players to change franchise by swapping standing putts.
