In a story that could straighten out of the film, Indian national Ikra Jamal and her two and a half year old daughter finally arrived in India on Wednesday after being stuck in Afghanistan, the Taliban for over three years.
Married to an Afghan national, IQRA traveled to Afghanistan in August 2021 just before the Taliban came to power.
In the meantime, IQRA discovered that she was pregnant. TOI first reported cases five months after pregnancy in January 2022.
Living past a time of lack of funds and turbulent times, Ikra’s daughter was born in Afghanistan after Indian citizens raised funds for delivery following the appeal by activist Rahul Kapoor. “I have overcome immeasurable fear, depression and anxiety, especially in the early months of the Taliban return,” says IQRA.
