Islamabad, February 7: Pakistan’s government on Friday extended a new invitation to talks with Imran Khan’s party the day before protests over suspicions of election integration last year.

Pakistan Teherek-e-Insaf (PTI) claims to have won the general election held on February 8, 2024, but through massive collusion, an allegation rejected by the government and election authorities. He claims that his delegation has been taken away.

The rift over the election results pitted PTI against the government, engaging in some protests last year, creating instability. However, both sides agreed in December to negotiate to end ongoing political uncertainty, addressing some concerns from the opposition.

Meeting after three rounds due to deadlock over PTI’s request to form a judicial committee to investigate the protests held on May 9, 2023, May 9, 2023, and November 26, failed. Incarcerated leader Khan asked his followers to protest the crimes that were rigged on the first anniversary of the election.

The move prompted Parliamentary Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, who facilitated the meeting, to offer new negotiations and take action, saying that the door for consultations had not been closed.

“We have not broken ties with PTI. They are still in contact with us,” he said in his interaction with the Lahore media.

Sadiq also said that PTI, particularly Khan’s leadership, was a “stricken individual” and recognized the complexity of his involvement with the opposition.

Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif held consultations last week, offering to establish a parliamentary panel that includes government members and PTI lawmakers, but no progress was made.

PTI Negotiation Committee spokesman Hamid Raza posted a statement to X on Thursday saying that the opposition committee had dissolved in accordance with Khan’s instructions.

Before agreeing to the new talks, the PTI is trying to touch on the support base through protests and has already announced that it will hold a large-scale meeting in the Swabi region of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, but it will be a different location in the country. A smaller protest will be held in. .

“The PTI plans to hold a large Jalsa in KP Swabi on February 8th in connection with the stolen mission in February 2024. In each constituency, protests under the direction of Imran Khan. “The party said in a WhatsApp message to the media.

He also said that the Punjab regime had refused to hold a rally in Lahore’s historic Minar e Pakistan. The party also alleged that police were raiding to arrest PTI leaders and workers to block efforts to protest.

On May 9, 2023, violent protests erupted after Khan’s arrest by a paramilitary ranger from the Islamabad High Court premises. His party workers destroyed 12 military facilities, including Jinna House (the home of the Lahore Corps commander) and the ISI building in Faisalabad. Khan said he was involved in the May 9 incident as a result of a “well-framed plan” to “harass him” for political reasons.

On November 13th last year, Khan issued a “final call” in nationwide protest on November 26th, demanding the recovery of the PTI election order, release of detained party members, and reversal of the 26th constitutional amendment I did. In response to his appeal, thousands of PTI workers arrived in Islamabad, but faced police crackdowns.
