Nimisha Sharath, Uber’s product manager, says that AI uses AI to automate about 30 % of work. She estimates that AI will save up to 100 minutes a day to meet up. Management of buildings and stakeholders.
This essay is based on a conversation with Nimisha Sharath, Seattle Uber Product Manager. Her identity and employment were verified by the business insider. This essay is edited for length and clearness.
I have been leading immigration life for eight years.
When I moved to the United States to get a master’s degree, I was on a student visa, but when I became a Microsoft data scientist, I moved to my employment visa. I was a data scientist for the first few years, but I moved to a product manager.
I wanted to try a startup, so I moved from Microsoft to Instacart. Making such a movement from a company that is as safe as Microsoft is not what many people in my position do. It worked for a while, but there was a layoff of the company and lost my job.
I found a job and left the country for about 90 days.
It was very strict, and the employment market was bad at the time. As a result, I needed a lot of storage and effort, but I accepted the offer as Uber’s product manager and worked for traffic safety.
A lot of things have happened since I left Instacart. There are so many chatbots versions, including GEMINI, Claude, and Chatgpt. In my last role, there was no AI automation.
The knowledge of what AI and how it is misused does not seem like an option at this time. It is important to learn about it as a product manager. And as an immigrant, I feel it is necessary. I really need to know how it will affect my living, and I think it’s the key to staying in this country.
When looking for a job, it is important that most of your roles will be more likely to be in the future. Many human involvement should be necessary.
Approximately 30 % of my job includes automation
I think 30 % of my role was automated by AI.

As a product manager, I have participated in many meetings. AI takes a note of my meeting, summarizes them, so that they can understand who says what and who is on what decisions. You don’t have to take a specific note and send it to people as they are going smoothly. AI does it for me.
When I usually send things to people and confirm that everyone is on the same page, I can save 15 or 20 minutes for each meeting. On average, I am attending about 4-5 meetings a day, so I can save 100 a day.
If it wasn’t for AI, I’m still in the office, and I will send a note together after everyone leaves.
You can also upload yourself at a very fast pace. You can read research papers in a few minutes, not a few hours. You can understand which research or literature is there about the specific solution area I want to explore, perform a complete SWOT analysis and understand what to build.
In contrast to a few years ago when we all had to do a lot, we can prepare a strategic deck with more information and beliefs.
I have more time for the person at work
AI gives the more human aspect of things, such as building relationships and managing stakeholders. I think it’s part of a job that is not actually automated.
As a product manager, you are an adhesive that holds seven or eight different teams together. Why does the operations team cooperate with data science and design teams? They are not really. But as a product manager, we have the ability to connect all of these people to create magic.
Now, I have time to talk to people and do it.
The judgment is also something that AI cannot be eliminated. Even if the AI tool is trained in data from all over the world, the available data is still biased. We do not represent 100 % of our thoughts, opinions and opinions.
Therefore, at the end of the day, some kind of human intervention is required to make sure that your decision is related to the global.
I think some of the roles will be automated by AI. It is inevitable. Instead of waiting for AI to come and invade, you will use AI to improve your work. Certainly, 30 % of your job may be eliminated. That’s good.
The person teaches others how to use it. It is a completely new skill.
