In the early morning hours of Friday, January 10, Ukrainian drones struck multiple regions across Russia, causing damage in some areas but with no reports of casualties.

Russian air defense forces intercepted 16 drones in the Rostov region, regional governor Yuri Slyusar said. A fire broke out in a Crimean village (a village in the Rostov region) at a manufacturing plant producing flooring materials, reportedly at the Plus Factor factory.

Videos posted on social media appeared to show distant explosions and fires in the southern region of Rostov, with air raid sirens heard in the background.

The fire was extinguished by morning. Damage to homes, vehicles and schools was reported in other areas, but no injuries were recorded.

A video was also released showing a huge fire in the village of Hatchina in the Leningrad region.

Nearby residents reported hearing explosions before the fire started, and the explosions can still be heard.

The fire affected several companies, including Ingria Tech, which sells panel covers and paint products. Also nearby is Admiral’s fish processing and cannery, and Hatchina CCM, which manufactures architectural panels for residential and administrative buildings.

According to ASTRA, local authorities reported that acetone may have leaked into the area. Although this information has not yet been confirmed, residents have noticed a strong chemical odor.

Acetone is a highly flammable chemical solvent and its vapors are highly explosive and susceptible to flash fires at temperatures above -20°C. Its smoke is mildly toxic and can cause eye irritation, dizziness, nausea and breathing problems, but high concentrations can cause unconsciousness. Spills can also harm local wildlife, especially birds.

According to a report by Governor Alexander Gusev, several drones were shot down in the Voronezh region on the night of Thursday, January 9, near the regional capital. Houses and vehicles were damaged, but no injuries were reported.

Governor Alexander Bogomaz confirmed that three drones were intercepted in the Bryansk region on the night of January 9th. There were no damages or casualties.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems intercepted a total of 40 drones overnight. Local governments in other affected areas have not reported any ground-level impacts.

Moscow and Kiev have exchanged near-daily drone strikes throughout the nearly three-year war, damaging civilian areas far from the front lines and reducing each other’s air defenses.
