“But I think the 2.5 version will be released first.”

The release of a new version of an AI chatbot introduced by xAI, an AI (artificial intelligence) company founded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, has reportedly been delayed.
TechCrunch and other foreign media reported on the 2nd (local time) that xAI’s new AI chatbot “Grock 3” has not yet been released, contrary to CEO Musk’s profession. Previously, in a post about X last July, Musk referenced Memphis-based xAI’s vast GPU cluster, posting: We are training 100,000 H100s. ” Later, in a follow-up post in December of the same year, he said, “Grook 3 will be a huge advancement,” raising expectations for the new AI chatbot.
CEO Musk’s promises have faded, but there is still no sign that the service will be released. As of the 3rd, there is no news of an imminent release of the Grook 3. The reason for the delay is unclear, but TechCrunch carried a tweet from an X user named Tibor Blaho stating that the latest version of Grok 2.5 is likely to be released. In other words, the 2.5 model, which is an intermediate model between Grook 2 and 3, will be released first.
CEO Musk is seen as a close aide to President-elect Donald Trump, who is expected to take office with a pro-Trump stance.
Prior to this, xAI announced in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on the 19th of last month that it had raised $6 billion. Major investors include Andriesson Horowitz and BlackRock, Fidelity, Nvidia, AMD, and Morgan Stanley.
With this new investment, xAI has raised a total of $12 billion to date. xAI is now valued at $50 billion, double what it was six months ago. xAI reportedly plans to raise further funds for multiple investors this year. According to overseas media, only investors who supported xAI were able to participate in this round of funding.
At the beginning of the 14th of last month (local time), CEO Musk started offering Grook 2 for free on his social media platform X. X users can access the Grook 2 page by clicking the Grook icon in the menu line, and can also use the chatbot. From a chat window that says “Ask me anything.”
xAI first introduced Groch 2 in August, but only made it available to subscribers on the $7/month X Premium and above. Now, we have released the service for free, greatly expanding the range of users.
