Dodger Stadium is currently undergoing a $100 million renovation that will make the iconic venue one of the greenest, fan-friendly ballparks in the world. The improvements will create a more modern power and waste management infrastructure. It will also reportedly include better seating and parking for fans, as well as a newly constructed underground team area.
MLB official Doug McCain of Dodger Nation posted a short video clip to X showing the extensive construction work currently taking place inside the arena. However, fans mostly responded to the post with a sarcastic take on the estimated $100 project.
Video showed that the entire outfield of Dodger Stadium was stripped out and replaced with a huge mound of dug-out earth and a stack of large steel poles placed on top. Huge cranes and excavators were in operation at the stadium, and vast swathes of land along the foul lines on both sides were cleared to create underground areas that would likely serve the team’s needs.

“Did they hold off on that renovation funding?” one fan asked.
“Are you going to postpone the renovation until 2050?” asked another fan.
Another fan said, “They say they will postpone payments to builders until 2050.”
The abuse from Los Angeles Dodgers fans continued to be posted on social media.
“How much of that $100 million will be deferred?” asked a fan.
“Will payments be postponed until 2067?” Another posted.
“You don’t have to pay until 2035,” said one fan.
The Dodgers signed Shohei Ohtani to a 10-year, $700 million contract at the start of the 2024 season, with almost all of that amount scheduled to be paid to the player at the end of his term. Ohtani had a historic first season with the team, which won the World Series title. The Dodgers acquired two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell this offseason, but the majority of his salary will be deferred.
Dodger Fest to be held at a different location than Dodger Stadium
The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin renovations to their home base immediately after the 2024 World Series. A major construction project underway inside the arena is expected to be ready by the start of the 2025 season.
This means DodgerFest, the team’s annual fan festival, will have to be held at a different venue than Dodger Stadium. The event is scheduled to be held on February 1st, but the venue has not yet been determined.
Similar issues arose in 2020, when the stadium was redeveloping the pavilion and building a new center field plaza. At that time, the event was held in the arena’s parking lot instead of on Dodger Stadium’s field.
