The Maharashtra Olympic Association (MOA) has told the Bombay High Court that it will strive to ensure that no athlete suffers and that all will participate in the trial leading up to the 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand. I was informed that I would be invited to do so.
The MOA conveyed this during the hearing of the petition filed by the Maharashtra State Volleyball Association (MVA) through its advocates Amir Alshiwala and Yash Jariwala and urged the MOA, with the participation of the petitioner association, to It asked for instructions to conduct selection tests for the women’s team. .
The petition also states that if the MOA proceeds with the operation of the Maharashtra state beach volleyball women’s team without the participation of the petitioner association, the court shall stop and stay such selection trial and conduct a fresh selection trial. I was asking for instructions.
The plea was heard by a bench of Dr Neela Gokhale and Justice Ashwin Bhove, who noted that the MOA had submitted that it was trying to avoid losses to athletes.
The MVA suffers from sectarianism, and given this scenario, athletes shouldn’t have to suffer for it. As a result, one faction had approached the volleyball team’s trial to include athletes from its own faction. The matter between the two different factions is pending before the Charity Commission and has not yet been decided.
As the MVA’s petition became difficult to hear, a letter from the MOA was submitted to the court, which read: “To avoid loss to athletes,
Both sides will be invited to participate in the trials along with their respective athletes. Athletes who pass the test are recommended for national competitions. This invitation by MOA to both groups neither validates nor invalidates the authority of the Executive Committee. Validity depends entirely on the decisions and orders of the Vice-Chairman of the Charity Commission. ”
The state’s women’s beach volleyball team selection will be held this weekend, and the 38th national tournament is scheduled to begin on January 25, 2025.
