Apple plans to phase out some iPhone models in the European Union, including the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus smartphones, possibly due to new regulations requiring phones to have USB-C ports for wired charging. The tech outlet reported that the company is preparing for the MacRumors.
Apple’s online store in Switzerland no longer sells some iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus models with Lightning ports, according to a retailer.
This could soon spread to other retailers across the EU.
However, Apple authorized resellers in the region do not have to liquidate their inventory and can continue to sell iPhones as long as they have them in stock, the report said.
Apart from this product removal, Apple will discontinue older models of its smartphones and stop selling them to buyers.
India is also considering having Apple switch to universal charging ports for its devices in the country, but the iPhone maker has warned that this could impact local production numbers.
